ABOUT THE BOOK

PATTERN presents 100 outstanding fashion designers selected by 10 of the field's leading professionals, including designers, stylists, editors, educators, bloggers and writers. Truly global in scope, it has collected the world's most exceptional international young designers from fashion's four capitals – London, Paris, Milan and New York – as well as from other less prominent but no less flourishing centres of activity, such as Sydney, Amsterdam, and Los Angeles.

The 100 fashion designers are arranged in alphabetical order, with each featured on their own two double-page spreads. Combining photographs, sketches, drawings and computer renderings, PATTERN explains the processes behind seasonal collections, as well as showcasing final pieces from the realms of menswear, womenswear, shoes, hats and accessories. Concise, descriptive texts by curators explain the designers' work and the characteristics that make their fashion groundbreaking.

PATTERN is a meticulously crafted book that gives exposure to previously unseen archive material including formative sketches and candid, backstage photographs. Imran Amed is a fashion writer and entrepreneur, and founder of the website The Business of Fashion.

Tavi Gevinson is an American fashion blogger who started her blog Style Rookie in 2008 aged 11.

Gert Jonkers & Jop van Bennekom are the creators and editors of men’s magazine Fantastic Man.

Tim Lim is a stylist and fashion editor and currently the Group Fashion Director at Modern Media.

Preen are designers known for their structural sophistication and pared back opulence.

Yasmin Sewell is a fashion retail consultant and most recently the Chief Creative Consultant for Liberty of London.

SHOWstudio is a website founded by Nick Knight that continues to redefine the representation of fashion photography online.

Keegan Singh is a stylist whose work regularly appears in publications including American Vogue and Interview.

Heather Sproat is a senior lecturer at Central Saint Martins College of Art & Design.
