Designer dishes by Nir Meiri

Israeli designer Nir Meiri has designed a unique series of plates made from an unconventional mix of cement and wood.

These stylish dishes are composed of three elements: a flat circular cement surface and sturdy placemat upon ballerina-like wooden legs. The plates seem gracefully poised for movement and have an understated theatricality and subtle humour, providing a stage for whatever delights are served upon them. The plates come in a variety of sizes, all of which feature Meiri's organic, elegant shapes and modest palette, ensuring that the food is always the centre of attention at any table.

Meiri, an industrial designer, has a keen eye for transforming ordinary objects into something spectacular. "I love to use unusual materials and unexpected combinations together with a fresh, original creative attitude. The end result is harmonic, practical and simple - and always special," he explains.
