The world and works of Spain's most famous illustrator and designer
Until That Day I Love You Anyway - Tales from the Bus Stop, currently on view at the Print House Gallery in Dalston (until 7 March), is the first solo exhibition of work by East London-based artist and illustrator Harry Malt.
'A monument to discovery, romance, ambition or lack of all three. A collection of writing and drawing,' the series was inspired by the idea of a bus stop as 'the epicentre of parochial life' and carries with it the all-too-familiar notion of endlessly-flowing time: 'Sitting in the bus stop waiting for the bus that comes once a day, reading the marks left by previous waiters, building a picture of passing time, imagined journeys, reminiscences, stories true and half true, the epicentre of parochial life. A means of escape, a ferry to the wider world, some buy return tickets, some buy singles, some never get on the bus.'
A graduate of Camberwell Art College, Malt has exhibited his work internationally and last year he co-founded Bare Bones, a magazine which, like his illustrations, continuously provides a shrewd commentary on the quotidian facets of the modern life.
Follow the link to Twin Magazine for further details about the exhibition, as well as a selection of paper replicas of designer handbags created by the artist for the magazine.
